School Uniform
All year 7-11 students are expected to wear school uniform. We believe that this encourages students to be proud of themselves and their school. No other single feature helps so quickly to establish a good community spirit. The school uniform helps students to feel that they belong to the school and have a place in it. Burnside's uniform policy, set out below, was designed and developed jointly by parents, students and staff.

Addition to uniform
Burnside recognises that some students would like to wear make up. Burnside’s policy is one that requests students do not wear inappropriate levels of make-up to school. Students observed attending school in excessive make-up will be asked to remove it. This also includes false sun tan colouring products.
Excessive jewellery is not allowed. A watch is appropriate but rings are not accepted. Earrings – a single pair of studs. Any other piercing is not allowed (including ear expanders).
Hair styles – no extremes of hair styles or colouring. Parents should discuss this with the relevant Head of Year before they agree to any extremes of tinting or styling. (Dreadlocks, Mohican styles, shaved patterns, beading and bright tinting constitute extreme hairstyles).
