Work Life Balance
At Burnside we take a realistic approach to the work that has to take place in school. We recognise that tired and overworked teachers, quite simply are not able to raise standards. We have identified a more imaginative approach to working practices that benefit both the school and its employees i.e. roles can be interchangeable rather than inflexible. We recognise that 'one size doesn’t fit all', but the key issue is to implement and operate practices which create a positive and supportive culture.

At Burnside we have a set of aims and values which underpin the very essence of the College. There is an element of trust – we are given the opportunity to share decisions about learning. We are valued for our achievements and treated in a way that accepts that we are individuals and have separate needs. There is an openness in terms of leadership and decision taking – we actively get involved in our learning and are encouraged to play a meaningful part in the whole community. Issues are shared with our colleagues and support is always at hand.
